Chief Financial Officer
Overview
The CFO is responsible for the overall financial management of Heatwave Interactive which will include managing the accounting, budgeting, planning, reporting and fund raising activities for the Company. The CFO will work very closely with the CEO and President to develop and execute Heatwave Interactive’s business plan.

Responsibilities
- Business/strategic partner and advisor to other executives
- Provide leadership and direction for all “Central Studio” and Joint Venture financial activities to ensure accomplishment of corporate financial and business objectives
- Establish and lead finance and accounting department for the general accounting activities, preparation of financial statements, internal and external reporting, tax reporting, annual audit, financial analysis, budgeting, strategic planning, etc.
- Support CEO and President in preparing and presenting reports and other information/analysis to Heatwave’s Board and other key stakeholders (e.g. JV investors and partners)
- Help manage all external financial relationships (e.g. auditors, investors, advisors)
- Manage all business planning, strategic planning, and annual budgeting activities
- Prepare/lead financial analysis that helps drive business decisions related to capital raising, strategic partnerships/joint ventures, intellectual property green lighting, etc.
- Develop and implement finance, accounting, billing, and auditing procedures
- Establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards
- Analyze cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to guide business decisions
- Manage professional development of finance and accounting staff
- Actively participates in process to raise capital for general corporate purposes and game development (e.g. single game and basket financing)
- Support executive team in structuring and negotiating investments, strategic partnerships/joint ventures, and other key business relationships (including publisher, distribution, licensing, and technology service provider deals)
Experience/Knowledge/Skills
- Significant executive experience (VP/CFO level) in financial role within entertainment/media company - ideal candidate will have significant experience in interactive gaming or filmed entertainment industry
- Demonstrated experience as a business/strategic partner and advisor to C-level executives
- Strong track record of achievement in financial role with progressively increasing responsibilities
- Deep understanding of traditional, new media and interactive gaming business models
- Executive presence with excellent written and verbal communication skills required - particularly with financial subject matter
- Experience in a fast-paced, growing and dynamic work environment - start-up history is a plus
- Successful history of taking small to medium sized companies to the next level
- Strong strategic thinker and thought leader with ability to think outside of box - Heatwave’s strategy is pioneering for the interactive gaming business
- Experience in working with Board of Directors and other key stakeholders
- Superior leadership, management, organizational and people development skills
- Considerable experience in analyzing, structuring, negotiating and managing complex joint ventures, strategic partnerships, investment, and other business relationships
- Experience successfully raising capital for interactive gaming or filmed entertainment companies/projects is a plus
- Strong experience and competency in the following areas: financial modeling and analysis, budgeting and reporting, strategic planning
- Extensive rolodex with access to relationships with potential investors for funding of interactive games (single games, game slate) is a plus
- Must have advanced PC skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Key personality traits: self-starter, strong work ethic, detail-oriented, high integrity, respectful, mature, team player, entrepreneurial spirit, objective, fair
- Strong interest in and knowledge of new and traditional media including interactive gaming, film, television, music and the Internet
- Passion for interactive gaming in general and Heatwave Interactive’s mission in particular
- Reside in or willingness to relocate to Austin, TX
Qualification Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
- A Master’s Degree is preferred.
- CPA or CFA certification
- 10 + years of financial management experience
